San Francisco Section

2012 Programs

Monthly Meetings and Speaker Series— Each meeting features a talk by a leading expert from industry or academia or a tour of a local company. Meetings include an informal dinner that provides an opportunity to meet the speakers and fellow professionals in an informal setting. An announcement and RSVP information will be distributed approximately three weeks prior to each meeting.

Coming soon: Business Meeting - We will elect new officers for the upcoming year. If you are interested in running for a position, please contact any of the current officers for information. Date and venue of the meeting will be announced shortly.

Student Night and the Daniel Cubicciotti Student Award — Each April, the San Francisco Section awards the Daniel Cubicciotti Student Award to an outstanding graduate or undergraduate student engaged in electrochemical research. The award consists of a plaque and a $2,000 prize. Applications are due by mid-February. The announcement and application information will be sent out in December. More information on the Daniel Cubicciotti Student Award can be found here.

Short Courses — Our 1-day short courses are typically held in May or June. Last year, we sponsored two courses that were very popular: "Wafer Electroplating" taught by Dr. Tom Dinan; "Photovoltaics" taught by Prof. Angus Rockett; and "Surface Micro Texture" taught by Don Cohen. Starting in early 2010 we will offer two courses on Atomic Layer Deposition and Battery Design.

ECS Student Sections — ECS is very interested in promoting student participation and provides funding for student Section activities. The student Section at UC Berkeley has been quite active in recent years under the leadership of Penny Gunterman. Please contact Penny if you are interested in joining the Berkeley Student Chapter, or talk to us if you are interested in launching a Chapter at your own campus.

Contact Information — Please contact Adrian Bude with questions about any of our upcoming events. You can also reach any of the Section officers via our e-mails listed here.
