AIP to Distribute Journals of The Electrochemical Society

Melville, NY, June 22, 2005 – The American Institute of Physics (AIP) and The Electrochemical Society (ECS) have announced an agreement for AIP’s Circulation & Fulfillment Division to provide fulfillment and customer service for the print editions of three ECS publications, Electrochemical and Solid-State Letters (ESL), Journal of The Electrochemical Society (JES), and the ECS members magazine, Interface. AIP has hosted ESL and JES on its Scitation online platform since January 2001.

Mary Yess, ECS Deputy Executive Director explained, “We consider AIP Publishing Services not merely a fulfillment vendor, but a partner in serving our subscribers. As both a service provider with great systems and facilities and a not-for-profit society with scholarly publications of its own, AIP understands the issues ECS faces in working with individual scientists, libraries and consortia.”

ECS joins the more than 150 scientific publications published by 15 societies for whom AIP’s Circulation & Fulfillment Division now provides fulfillment services. AIP will provide the following services for ECS:

  • Track and maintain ECS subscribers
  • Issue renewal invoices and process payments
  • Distribute and fulfill print and online subscriptions
  • Provide customized consortia processing
  • Provide reporting, statistics and marketing tracking

“ECS is well respected in the STM community for publishing the most authoritative research in its field,” said AIP's Director of Circulation and Fulfillment Services Lori Carlin. “AIP's circulation experience will provide the high level of customer service and timely, accurate fulfillment that ECS readers demand.”

The Electrochemical Society is an 8,000-member organization of scientists and engineers in over 70 countries worldwide.  The Society has a long tradition in advancing the theory and practice of electrochemical and solid state science by dissemination of information through its publications and international meetings.

AIP’s Circulation & Fulfillment Division offers a complete selection of subscription services, including demographic tagging and tracking of subscription history, claims, marketing efforts, and customer service inquires. In addition, clients can choose from a number of subscription models, including tier pricing and multisite arrangements. AIP also offers a complete selection of membership services, including new member processing, renewal notice generation and distribution (both in print and online), dues processing, suspension and reinstatement programs, demographic tracking, member benefit publication fulfillment, welcome letters, chapter tracking, sponsorship, and much more.
