Statement of Candidacy

I have been an active Electrochemical Society member representing the battery division (BD) for 12-plus years, contributing in different capacities. I started my research career in battery R&D while working at Ford Motor Co. where I was a member of the local ECS Detroit Chapter. Since then, in partnership with my colleagues from General Motors, I have supported and organized various symposia at ECS meetings including fund raising. As a technical member of the United States Advanced Battery Consortium (USABC) between Automotive OEMs and the Department of Energy (DOE), I continued supporting various ECS professional activities. After moving to Oak Ridge National Laboratory in 2009, I have been a member at large for the battery division and their fund raising chair or the last two years. In this capacity, working with my BD colleagues, we got record sponsorship and funds from industry and institutions to support BD and other ECS divisions. I believe my extensive experience working with ECS and BD, along with professional networking in the battery and electrochemistry community, I can effectively provide the leadership in BD to take this to another level. I look forward to your support for serving the ECS Battery Division.
