Ten speakers on November 19, 2021

The ECS San Francisco Section presents the inaugural Young Investigator Lectures Series. The COVID-19 pandemic has impaired travel and in-person conferences, negatively impacting early career researchers in the scientific field. The section’s series creates opportunities for senior graduate students and postdocs to highlight their research in virtual short lectures.

The inaugural series showcases 10 speakers from California universities. The ECS San Francisco Section organized the lecture series. Speakers are selected by the Young Investigator Lecture Nomination and Selection Committee.

The newly formed ECS Pacific Northwest Section is happy to announce that Dr. Wei Wang, Director of the Energy Storage Materials Initiative at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, is the first recipient of the section’s Electrochemistry Research Award Sponsored by Gamry Instruments.  

The award was established to recognize excellence in electrochemistry and solid state science and technology research by an independent scientist or engineer working in Washington, Oregon or Idaho.

Dr. Wei Wang is Director of the Energy Storage Materials Initiative, a multi-million-dollar, multi-year project at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) to fundamentally transform energy material discovery and development through a combined experiment/modeling/data approach. He also serves as the chief scientist and technical lead on stationary energy storage research at PNNL, with a primary focus on developing advanced redox flow battery technologies. (more…)

In light of rapidly escalating cases of the COVID-19 Delta variant across the US, and continuing travel restrictions on international visitors, The Electrochemical Society (ECS) Board of Directors determined that it is not possible to safely convene the upcoming ECS meeting in Orlando, FL, on October 10-14, 2021.

Instead, the 240th ECS Meeting will be a fully digital event. Rather than travelling to Orlando, all presenting authors are asked to submit digital presentation files (video, and/or slide deck or poster) in advance of the meeting. These materials will be freely available to all global attendees for on-demand viewing throughout the meeting dates. (more…)
