ECS Institutional Members

The ECS Institutional Membership Program provides a number of benefits for electrochemical and solid state science organizations from around the world. Institutional members are able to choose the benefit options that best help meet their organizational goals such as employee development, marketing and outreach opportunities, access to the ECS digital library, and publishing content with ECS.

AiMES 2018: Best Student Posters

At AiMES 2018 in Cancun, Mexico, there were more than 80 students posters submitted to the Z01 General Student Poster Session.

The general student poster session was held on Tuesday night, October 2, 2018. This session draws a number of participants at each meeting as awards are given to the best posters. Awards recognize the student’s knowledge and understanding of their research; and the research’s relationship to fields of interest to ECS.

6 New ECS Student Chapters

The ECS student chapter program continues to experience tremendous growth with student chapters forming around the globe! During AiMES 2018, the Individual Membership Committee and Board of Directors approved the chartering of six more student chapters:

  • Imperial College London (UK)
  • University of Cape Town (South Africa)
  • Dalhousie University (Canada)
  • Mexico Capitulo Estudiantil CIDETEQ (Mexico)
  • China Spallation Neutron Source (China)
  • Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University (Turkey)

ECS now supports 81 student chapters! The student chapter program helps students collaborate on their campus and promote electrochemical and solid state science throughout their communities.

Refer a Friend Contest Winners

ECS would like to congratulate Johan Scheers of the Volvo Group for winning first place in the August 2018 Refer a Friend Contest! Scheers receives a complimentary meeting registration to a 2019 ECS biannual meeting of his choice.

The second place recipient, Anatolie Carcea from the University of Toronto, receives a complimentary 5-year membership. Tatiana Lastovina from Southern Federal University in Russia, the third place winner, receives a complimentary 3-year membership.

Members were challenged to recruit new members to the Society throughout August; emails were sent each week to encourage these member-to-member recruitment efforts.

The ECS Toyota Young Investigator Fellowship, a partnership between The Electrochemical Society and Toyota Research Institute of North America, a division of Toyota Motor North America, is in its fourth year. The fellowship aims to encourage young professors and scholars to pursue research in green energy technology that may promote the development of next-generation vehicles capable of utilizing alternative fuels.

ECS Refer a Friend Contest

Earlier this year, ECS hosted a membership drive that successfully recruited 167 new and renewed 89 members and student members. We know that recruiting is no easy task.

That’s why we are asking for your help!

ECS is challenging our members and student members to recruit a friend to become a new member starting on August 1, 2018.

We are giving away a 2019 biannual meeting registration to recognize the top recruiter’s efforts; the second place performer will receive a five-year ECS membership; and, the third place recruiter will receive a three-year ECS membership.

Delegates from the 6th Annual India Section School held in December 2017.

ECS sections serve an integral role within the Society. Many sections offer opportunities for members and student members to connect with their regional peers and host local symposia/meetings. Like our divisions, the sections help to serve the mission of ECS.
