Participants are sought from across academia, National Laboratories, industry, and NGOs by the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Advanced Manufacturing Office (AMO) to provide their expertise, insights, and vision for the use of electrochemical processes across the U.S. industrial sector.
Be an active participant or just a “listener” in a virtual workshop series examining how adopting electrochemical technologies and strategies could substantially improve the performance of the industrial sector, for example in energy productivity, thermal efficiency, reduced greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, reduced number of process steps. Opportunities for technology development to accelerate commercial deployment will also be discussed.
Help identify technologies and associated R&D opportunities related to electrochemical processing systems used in major industries.
Assist in prioritizing the technical areas where AMO funding could have the greatest impact on manufacturing, energy efficiency, and greenhouse gas emission reduction.

The sixth annual Next Generational Electrochemistry Workshop—NGenE 2021—showcases the stunning breadth of topics that now depend on advances in electrochemical knowledge. Laboratory Automation and Accelerated Synthesis: Empowering Tomorrow’s Chemist—A Workshop
The Chemical Sciences Roundtable is hosting a workshop exploring laboratory automation which can provide chemists and other scientists with the ability to create libraries of new compounds efficiently in unprecedented time. The promise of laboratory automation is much more realistic today with recent advances in various technologies than in years past. As technology improves, however, one must consider how best to automate the laboratory and train next-generation chemists, chemical engineers, materials and formulation scientists, and others. Last November, ECS Executive Director and CEO Christopher Jannuzzi and ECS Director of Community Engagement Shannon Reed attended the Chemical Sciences Roundtable (CSR) Electrochemistry Workshop in Washington, DC, which focused on the Advances, Challenges, and Long-Term Opportunities in Electrochemistry: Addressing Societal Needs.
The event, hosted by NAS and NSF, explored how electrochemistry can transform technologies related to various applications. The focus was on the instrumentation, education, and other needs required to advance the electrochemical field. (more…)

Scientists and engineers often find themselves trapped in a career that is far from fulfilling their dreams and aspirations. It is not for a lack of working hard. It is simply because they have not learned or (re)discovered the keys to build a very successful career.
Strategic Tools for a Successful Career, being offered at AiMES 2018, is filled with hands-on exercises. The participants will actively engage these essential principles.
On January 22, 2016, the ECS Montreal Student Chapter hosted its first ever electrochemistry workshop. The focus of the workshop was the fabrication of silver-silver chloride reference electrodes, a staple of most electrochemistry experiments.
The workshop included a short presentation discussing the theoretical aspects of references electrodes, after which students could observe a demonstration. Finally, each student was allowed to perform the fabrication protocol and everyone brought home their own reference electrode!
On October 26th, 2015, the ECS British Columbia Student Chapter held its 1st Annual Academic Workshop.
The workshop was held at the Molecular Biology and Chemistry Building located at Simon Fraser University in British Columbia, Canada. It attracted nearly 40 attendees from all different departments and disciplines at The University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University and Tsinghua University, China. Also in attendance was the Chair of ECS Canada Section, Dr. Michael Eickerling.
The attendees were given a detailed presentation from Dr. Andrei Kulikovsky on the topic of Physical Models of Impedance Spectroscopy for PEM fuel cells. Dr. Kulikovsky visited all the way from Germany for the workshop, where he is involved in modeling fuel cell components and stacks. Within the past fifteen years, Dr. Kulikovsky has published more than seventy research papers.
In 2012, he published a one-of-a-kind book called Analytical Modeling of Fuel Cells. This book is the first monograph on modeling of polymer electrolyte, direct methanol and solid oxide fuel cells performance. Dr. Kulikovsky’s current research interests include modeling of fuel cells and catalyst layers.
