Society Awards

Fellow of The Electrochemical Society
Recognizes advanced individual technological contributions in the field of electrochemical and solid state science and technology, and active ECS membership. Award includes a certificate and gold lapel pin.
Nomination deadline – February 1, 2021.


Division Awards

ECS Battery Division Postdoctoral Associate Research Award Sponsored by MTI Corporation and the Jiang Family Foundation
Recognizes and supports the development of talent and future leaders in battery and fuel cell science and technology among postdoctoral researchers affiliated with the ECS Battery Division. The award includes a framed certificate, $2,000 USD, and complimentary meeting registration.
Nomination deadline – March 15, 2021 

ECS Battery Division Research Award
Encourages excellence in battery and fuel cell research, publication in ECS journals, and developing interest in battery and fuel cell science among younger electrochemists. Award includes a framed certificate, $2,000 US, and Battery Division membership for as long as the recipient maintains Society membership.
Nomination deadline – March 15, 2021 

ECS Battery Division Student Research Award Sponsored by Mercedes-Benz Research & Development
Recognizes promising young engineers and scientists in the field of electrochemical power sources and encourages recipients to initiate or continue careers in the field. Recipients receive a framed certificate, $1,000 US, complimentary student meeting registration, and travel expenses of up to $1,000 US.
Nomination deadline – March 15, 2021

ECS Battery Division Technology Award
Encourages the development of battery and fuel cell technology, and recognizes significant achievements in this area. Award is comprised of a framed certificate, $2,000 US, and Battery Division membership for as long as the recipient maintains Society membership.

ECS High-Temperature Energy, Materials, & Processes Division J. B. Wagner, Jr. Young Investigator Award
Recognizes a young Society member who has demonstrated exceptional promise for a successful career in science and/or technology in the field of high-temperature energy, materials, and processes. Recipients receive a framed certificate, $1,000 US, travel expenses, and complimentary meeting registration. 
Nomination deadline – January 31, 2021.

ECS High-Temperature Energy, Materials, & Processes Division Subhash Singhal Award
Recognizes distinguished researchers’ excellence and exceptional research contributions to the science and engineering of solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC), and electrolyzers (SOEC), materials, processes, and manufacturing. Award consists of a framed certificate and a $1,000 US prize.
Nomination deadline – February 5, 2021     

ECS Organic and Biological Electrochemistry Division Manuel M. Baizer Award
Recognizes individuals for their outstanding scientific achievements in the electrochemistry of organics and organometallic compounds, carbon-based polymers and biomass, whether fundamental or applied, and including but not limited to synthesis, mechanistic studies, engineering of processes, electrocatalysis, devices such as sensors. Recipients receive a framed certificate, $1,000 US, and travel expenses.
Nomination deadline – January 15, 2021.

ECS Physical and Analytical Electrochemistry Division Max Bredig Award in Molten Salt and Ionic Liquid Chemistry
Recognizes excellence in the field and seeks to stimulate high quality ECS publications. The award includes a framed certificate, and $1,500 US. The award coincides with the International Symposium on Molten Salts and Ionic Liquids. 
Nomination deadline – March 1, 2021.

ECS Sensor Division Outstanding Achievement Award
Recognizes outstanding achievement in research and/or technical contributions to the field of sensors and encourages work excellence in the field. Awardees receive a framed certificate, $1,000 US prize, and may receive (if required) some financial assistance to facilitate meeting attendance.
Nomination deadline – March 1, 2021.


Section Awards

ECS Canada Section W. Lash Miller Award
Recognizes publications and/or excellence in the field of electrochemical science and technology and/or solid state science and technology. Awardees receive a $1,000 CA prize.
Nomination deadline – December 31, 2020

ECS Canada Section Student Award
Recognizes promising young engineers and scientists in the field of electrochemical power sources, and encourages recipients to initiate or continue careers in the field. The award consists of a $1,500 US prize.
Nomination deadline – February 28, 2021

ECS Korea Section Student Award
Recognizes academic accomplishments in any area of science or engineering in which electrochemical and/or solid state science and technology is the central consideration. Recipient receives a $500 US prize.
Nomination deadline – December 31, 2020

ECS San Francisco Section Daniel Cubicciotti Award
Assists a deserving student in Northern California pursue a career in the physical sciences or engineering. Award includes an etched metal plaque and $2,000 US. Up to two honorable mentions are also awarded. Honorable mention awardees receive a scroll and $500 US.
