Honoring Global Volunteer Month and Celebrate Diversity Month

During the month of April, we honor both Global Volunteer Month and Celebrate Diversity Month. This month is a time to reflect and remind us of the importance of the globally diverse stewardship that technical societies rely on to forward their missions.

The Editorial Boards leading and supporting The Electrochemical Society publications include experts in the fields of electrochemistry and solid state science from a range of gender identities, races, career levels, nationalities, cultures, and languages.

Forty years ago, Joan Berkowitz became the first female president of The Electrochemical Society. In honor of the groundbreaking milestone, ECS will host the symposium, “40 Years After: A Symposium on Diversity,” taking place on Wednesday, October 16, at the 236th ECS Meeting. The symposium will not only celebrate the past but also look towards the future, encouraging conversations and examining options to promote the continued support of not only women in the sciences, but diversity and inclusiveness overall. Celebrate Peer Review Week with ECS

Join ECS as it celebrates Peer Review Week 2018 (September 10-15), the fourth annual installment of an international event dedicated to recognizing and examining the pivotal role that peer review plays in scholarly communication.

The theme of this year’s Peer Review Week is “Diversity in Peer Review.” The week’s events, which will consist of in-person seminars, webinars, interviews, and social media activities, will focus upon the importance of diversity and inclusion in peer review.
