The High-Temperature Energy, Materials, & Processes Division Mid-Career Award was established in 2026 to recognize mid-career achievement and contributions to the field of high-temperature energy, materials, and processes.
Eligibility criteria
- Member of The Electrochemical Society in good standing for at least two years prior to the nomination date.
- Initiated their career (i.e., received their final degree and/or began professional work in their field) 13 to 25 years before the nomination deadline. Extensions for special circumstances (e.g., parental leave, military service, long-term illness), are considered on a case-by-case basis. For confidentiality, requests for an extension must be submitted separately to ECS Awards and not included in the nomination packet.
Nomination guidelines
Self-nominations are not accepted.
A complete nomination packet includes:
- Completed electronic Award Nomination Form;
- The candidate’s curriculum vitae, including a list of publications and relevant pre-prints accepted for publication;
- Nominator’s letter summarizing the nominee’s research activities, accomplishments, and involvement in the Society;
- At least two additional reference letters (not including the nomination letter);
- Other pertinent information to assist Award Committee members in assessing the candidate.
Unsuccessful nominations are eligible for consideration for one (1) additional award cycle if the nominee still meets the eligibility criteria.
H-TEMP Division Mid-Career Award Subcommittee members may not submit nominations or letters of support during their terms of service on the committee.
Award
The award consists of:
- Framed certificate;
- USD $1,000;
- Complimentary meeting registration (if necessary);
- Up to USD $1,000 in travel expense reimbursement to attend the ECS meeting at which the award is presented.
Recipient obligations
The award recipient delivers a lecture at an H-TEMP-sponsored symposium during the Society’s spring meeting in even-numbered years when the award is presented.
