Journal of The Electrochemical Society
Focus Issue on Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell & Proton Exchange Membrane Water Electrolyzer Durability

The Journal of The Electrochemical Society will publish a focus issue in connection with the Polymer Electrolyte Fuel Cells and Electrolyzers 20 (PEFC&E 20) Symposium which took place during PRiME 2020.

All aspects of PEMFC and PEMWE durability will be considered including materials (e.g. catalyst, catalyst support, ionomer, membrane, seals, coolant), components (e.g. catalyst coated membranes, gas/water transport layers, bipolar plates), cells, stacks, balance of plant components (e.g. pumps, blowers, humidifiers, gas/water separators, water purifiers, heat exchangers, sensors, controllers), systems degradation by corrosion or other phenomena, characterization and accelerated test methods, and predictive mathematical models. All PEMFC and PEMWE alternatives, such as alkaline membrane-based systems and other direct fuel systems, will be considered. New and future aspects that extend the durability of any part, from materials to systems, will be particularly emphasized.

Accepting Submissions: August 20, 2020 | Submission Deadline EXTENDED: December 18, 2020 January 15, 2021

(At the time of submission, indicate that the paper is intended for the Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell & Proton Exchange Membrane Water Electrolyzer Durability focus issue.)

Contributors to this focus issue from PRiME 2020 are also encouraged to submit a paper to ECS Transactions as a precursor to the journal submission. Proceedings submissions begin on July 17, 2020. Submissions are due no later than August 7, 2020.
