Electrochemical/Electroless Deposition Topical Interest Area
The Electrochemical Society (ECS) seeks nominations for the position of Technical Editor (TE) for the Electrochemical/Electroless Deposition topical interest area (TIA) of the Journal of The Electrochemical Society (JES).
The successful candidate will join the JES Editorial Board and provide scholarly leadership for one of the journal’s longstanding and impactful research areas. The appointment is expected to begin in August/September 2026 following completion of the nomination, review, and approval process.
About the Topical Interest Area
The Electrochemical/Electroless Deposition TIA encompasses research related to the deposition of metals, oxides, semiconductors, nanostructures, and composite materials. Areas of interest include:
- Electrochemical and electroless deposition processes;
- Nanofabrication and advanced manufacturing;
- Fundamental aspects of nucleation and growth;
- Physical and mechanical properties of deposits, including structure and internal stress;
- Modeling and simulation of deposition processes;
- Industrial plating technologies and plating baths;
- Leveling, accelerating, and suppressing agents;
- Emerging materials and applications enabled through electrodeposition.
This TIA is closely aligned with the activities and interests of the ECS Electrodeposition Division.
Responsibilities
The Technical Editor is responsible for providing scientific and editorial leadership within the TIA, including:
- Managing the peer review process for submitted manuscripts within the subject area;
- Recruiting, mentoring, and overseeing Associate Editors and reviewers as appropriate;
- Ensuring fair, timely, and rigorous editorial decision-making;
- Promoting high standards of publication ethics and research integrity;
- Supporting strategic initiatives that enhance the quality, visibility, and impact of JES;
- Collaborating with the Editor-in-Chief, fellow Technical Editors, ECS staff, and publishing partners.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess:
- An established international reputation in electrochemical and/or electroless deposition research;
- A strong record of scholarly publication and scientific leadership;
- Prior editorial experience as an editor, associate editor, guest editor, or comparable role;
- A demonstrated commitment to rigorous peer review, publication ethics, and service to the scientific community;
- Membership in ECS at the time of nomination is preferred but not required.

Nominations are accepted through July 31, 2026.
Materials should be submitted electronically via the ECS Editorial Opportunities Form on or before the published deadline.
Following the close of nominations, nominees will be reviewed. Those selected as candidates are required to participate in an interview process. The final appointment is subject to approval through ECS governance procedures.
