Join us on Tuesday, October 27, from 1800–2000h, for an evening of international poetry at ECS’s historic 250th Meeting in Calgary, Canada, October 25–29, 2026.
“It Could be Verse III” celebrates the diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds of ECS members and meeting attendees. This, the third event in the series, is intended to be fun, informal, and decidedly amateur like the gatherings at the 244th ECS Meeting in Gothenburg, Sweden, in fall 2023, and 247th Meeting in Montréal, Canada, in spring 2025.
Participants are invited to recite or read a poem, sing, play music, or simply listen at this cultural entertainment event. Poems can be ancient or modern, well-known or obscure, or personal compositions on any topic. You may perform in English or your native language—whichever is most comfortable. Poems do not need to be related to science, although science-related poems are welcome.
No prior experience is necessary or expected. Participants new to poetry reading or recitation are especially encouraged to take part. This is an opportunity for both technical and nontechnical meeting attendees to share their talents, culture, and creativity.
