Call for Nominations: JES Organic and Bioelectrochemistry Technical Editor

Deadline: November 30, 2025

The Journal of The Electrochemical Society (JES) seeks nominations for a Technical Editor (TE) to lead the organic and bioelectrochemistry (OBE) topical interest area—one of the most innovative and rapidly evolving spaces in electrochemical science. The community is invited to help identify the next editorial leader to guide high-impact research, support scientific rigor, and shape the future of this important discipline.

Organic and bioelectrochemistry is at the intersection of chemistry, biology, materials, and energy research. This topical area includes fields such as:

  • Synthetic and mechanistic electrochemistry;
  • Electrocatalysis in organic and biological systems;
  • Enzymatic and microbial reactions;
  • Electron-transfer processes;
  • Electronically conducting polymers;
  • Organometallic electrochemistry;
  • Electrochemical behavior of biological molecules and interfaces.

As advancements accelerate in areas like bioelectrocatalysis, redox protein behavior, biomolecular electronics, and organic electrochemical energy systems, the OBE community plays an essential role in pushing the boundaries of electrochemical knowledge.

The selected Technical Editor will oversee peer review within this topical area; ensure timely, ethical, and high-quality publication decisions; and work collaboratively with the JES Editor-in-Chief, Associate Editors, and the Organic and Bioelectrochemistry Division to support the journal’s long-term excellence. JES Technical Editors are appointed for renewable terms of two to four years, for a maximum of 12 years, in accordance with the ECS Charter.

Ideal candidates are internationally respected researchers with deep subject expertise, a strong publication record, editorial judgment, and a demonstrated commitment to advancing organic and bioelectrochemistry. Creativity, leadership, fairness, ethical awareness, and sufficient time to support the editorial process are essential.

Nomination packages (self-nominations welcome) must include:

  • Curriculum vitae (CV)
  • Brief statement of qualifications and vision for the role (one to two pages)
  • High-resolution headshot (300 dpi minimum)

Submit nominations via the ECS Editorial Opportunities Form.

Nominations are due on or before November 30, 2025.

Help identify the next leader to steward groundbreaking research and uphold the scientific integrity of JES. ECS looks forward to receiving nominations and continuing its shared commitment to advancing electrochemical science.
