Gustavo Hobold, Elementium
Building scalable electrolytes for TWh-scale batteries

Dr. Hobold is the Chief Technical Officer of Elementium Materials. His work focuses on electrolyte discovery for next-generation rechargeable batteries that can replace carbonate-based electrolytes at scale and enable emerging battery materials with no trade-offs in performance. His research has resulted in the development of new classes of electrolytes and a series of experimental high-throughput techniques for electrolyte screening and characterization. He received his PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and was awarded an received ECS Battery Division Research Award in 2023.

Elementium is a battery company based in the Greater Boston Area, reshaping the battery landscape by developing ultra-high performance low-cost drop-in electrolytes that mitigate the failure mechanisms of legacy carbonate-based electrolytes and unlock the next generation of battery chemistries. With production capacity of over 25 GWh, Elementium supports over 100+ customers around the world, shipping electrolytes across all lithium and sodium cell chemistries.

Jayse Langdon, 6K Energy
“New Processing Methods and Properties of Single Crystal NMC”

Dr. Langdon has nine years of experience with high-nickel and single-crystal cathode development, starting under Professor Arumugam Manthiram. After working to scale cobalt-free cathodes at another domestic manufacturer, he joined 6K Energy to help develop the next generation of low-cost, high-performance cathode materials. He holds a BS and PhD in Chemical Engineering from Arizona State University and University of Texas at Austin respectively.

6K Energy is redefining the production of critical energy storage materials by delivering high-performance, single-crystal NMC cathode active material through advanced domestic manufacturing. Utilizing its proprietary UniMelt microwave plasma platform, the company produces critical battery materials entirely within the United States, significantly reducing production time and energy usage while generating zero hazardous wastewater. By anchoring its output in the U.S. and leveraging localized supply chains, 6K Energy directly addresses stringent federal mandates, such as NDAA compliance requirements, providing automotive OEMs, grid operators, and defense applications with a secure, low-cost, and environmentally sustainable alternative to foreign-sourced battery materials.

Peter Attia, Glimpse
“How minute differences in battery geometry explain electrochemical variability”

Dr. Attia is cofounder and Chief Technical Officer of Glimpse. Previously, he worked as an engineering lead on some of Tesla’s toughest battery failure modes and managed a team focused on scaling cell CT scanning. He holds a PhD from Stanford University, where he developed seminal machine learning methods for battery lifetime prediction and optimization. He has received several honors including being included in Forbes 30 under 30. He joined ECS in 2017 and received an ECS Battery Division Research Award in 2019.

Glimpse is a Massachusetts-based startup whose mission is to enable battery quality at scale. Founded in 2023 by Tesla and Toyota alumni and deployed across large cell producers and OEMs, Glimpse is pioneering the software stack to enable high-throughput CT scanning for battery cell quality control.
