Nominating period: March 15-June 15, 2024

Ralph E. WhiteThe ECS Honors & Awards Program and ECS Industrial Electrochemistry and Electrochemical Engineering Division are pleased to announce the new Industrial Electrochemistry and Electrochemical Engineering Division Ralph E. White Outstanding Student Award.

Ralph E. White

The award is named of longtime ECS member Ralph E. White, Professor of Chemical Engineering and Westinghouse Distinguished Scientist at the University of South Carolina (USC). In 1995, he founded the university’s Center for Electrochemical Engineering. Professor White has made significant contributions to the field of modeling and simulation of electrochemical systems. As a department chair and Dean at the University of South Carolina, he was instrumental in training the next generation of students, researchers, and colleagues who have gone on to make significant contributions in academia and industry.

IE&EE Ralph E. White Outstanding Student Award

The award recognizes promising young engineers and scientists in the field of modeling and simulation of electrochemical systems, in particular, students who have contributed to:

  • Model development;
  • Algorithm development;
  • Efficient numerical simulation of electrochemical systems in different length and timescales for industrial applications;
  • Fundamental mechanisms in electrochemical systems.

The award is intended to encourage recipients to continue careers in electrochemical engineering or applied electrochemistry. The award prize consists of a  certificate and USD $1,000. If more than one recipient is selected, both receive certificates and the full award amount.

Please review the award details for recipient qualifications and information regarding the nomination process. Nominations are accepted from March 15 through June 15, 2024.
