Call for Nominations: Journal of The Electrochemical Society (JES) Sensors Technical Editor

The Electrochemical Society (ECS) seeks nominations for the position of Technical Editor for the Sensors topical interest area within the Journal of The Electrochemical Society (JES).

The Technical Editor plays a critical leadership role in maintaining JES’s reputation for publishing high-quality, peer-reviewed research that advances the frontiers of electrochemical science and technology.

Topical Interest Area: Sensors

This topical area covers the science, technology, and applications of electrochemical sensors and sensing systems, including but not limited to:

  • Electrochemical, chemical, and biosensors;
  • Gas sensors and environmental monitoring devices;
  • In situ and operando electrochemical sensing methods;
  • Wearable and flexible sensor technologies;
  • Sensor materials and interface engineering;
  • Integrated and miniaturized sensing systems.
Qualifications

Self nominations are invited from individuals who meet the following criteria:

  • Eight or more years post-PhD
  • Active publication record within the past five or more years in the Sensors topical area
  • Editorial or peer-review leadership experience preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership, technical expertise, motivation, and international reputation in electrochemical and sensor science fields

Only complete nomination packages are considered. Incomplete submissions are not acknowledged.

Role and Responsibilities
  • According to the JES Charter, Technical Editors are appointed by the Editor-in-Chief, in consultation with and confirmation by the Publications Subcommittee.
  • Each Technical Editor is responsible for the overall success of their topical area, including:
    • Ensuring the quality of published content;
    • Overseeing efficient and fair peer-review processes;
    • Promoting the highest standards of research integrity and ethics;
    • Supporting the journal’s impact and visibility within the scholarly community;
    • Providing leadership in synergizing the Sensors topical area with other JES topical areas and the broader ECS journal portfolio.
  • Technical Editors may be appointed for an initial term of 12–36 months and may be renewed for additional two- to four-year terms, up to a maximum of 12 years total service.
Nomination Process
  1. Qualified individuals are encouraged to submit their nomination online through the ECS Editorial Opportunities Form by December 31, 2025.
  2. Nominee applications are reviewed by the Publications Subcommittee ad hoc search committee.
  3. Interviews take place with selected candidates.
Appointment Process

Formal appointment is subject to approval by the Publications Subcommittee and Technical Affairs Committee.

This is a rigorous multi-step process. Only those genuinely committed to seeing the process through to completion should self nominate.
