The Electrochemical Society (ECS) has selected eleven distinguished members to join the 2026 Class of ECS Fellows. Established in 1989, this notable honor recognizes individuals for their outstanding technological contributions to electrochemistry and solid state science, as well as their dedicated service and active participation in the Society.

The 2026 Class of ECS Fellows will be formally inducted on October 26, 2026, during the 250th ECS Meeting in Calgary, Canada.

What does it take to become a Fellow of The Electrochemical Society? To be eligible, one must be an ECS member, have made advanced individual technological contributions in electrochemical and solid state science and technology, and be actively involved in ECS affairs.

If you know an ECS member who meets these criteria, nominate them today! If you nominated a member last year who was not selected, know that nominations are good for two years. If the nominees’ ECS memberships are active, they are automatically reconsidered without a new nomination submission. (more…)

ECS Fellow Professor Yury Gogotsi was inducted into the 2022 Class of National Academy of Inventors Fellows at the NAI Annual Meeting from June 25-27, 2023, in Washington, D.C.

Since 2012, the National Academy of Inventors, a nonprofit organization founded and dedicated to encouraging academic inventors with U.S. patents, has inducted a yearly class of fellows into the organization. “The NAI Fellows Program was established to highlight academic inventors who have demonstrated a prolific spirit of innovation in creating or facilitating outstanding invention that have made a tangible impact on quality of life, economic development, and the welfare of society. Election to NAI Fellow status is the highest professional distinction accorded solely to academic inventors.” (From the NAI Fellows Program website.)

With more than 190 patent applications filed and more than 70 issued patents, over 30 of which have been licensed to industry, Prof. Gogotsi is certainly worthy of this esteemed accolade. He thanks his nominators, co-inventors, and companies that acquired licenses for using his patented carbon and MXene materials and technologies for their support in reaching this honor. (more…)

The designation “Fellow of The Electrochemical Society” was established in 1989 for advanced individual technological contributions to the fields of electrochemistry and solid state science and technology, and for service to the Society.
