2023 ECS Student Chapters of Excellence are at Texas Tech University and ECS Indian Institute of Technology Madras

Congratulations to the ECS University of Notre Dame Student Chapter, named the 2023 Outstanding Student Chapter Award. The 2023 Student Chapters of Excellence are at Texas Tech University and the Indian Institute of Technology Madras.

ECS is proud to support the ECS Student Chapters’ journeys to scientific knowledge via community, connection, and career building.

ECS Outstanding Student Chapter

The Society established the Outstanding Student Chapter Award in 2012 to recognize distinguished ECS Student Chapters that demonstrate active participation in the Society’s technical activities; establish community and outreach activities in the areas of electrochemical and solid state science and engineering education; and create and maintain a robust membership base.

2023 ECS Outstanding Student Chapter

The ECS University of Notre Dame Student Chapter received the award in recognition of  its dedication and commitment to advancing electrochemical and solid state science and engineering education. Thanks to the chapter’s efforts in promoting the ECS mission, it has grown to approximately 50 students—three times its size when it was established in 2020.

In the past year, the chapter hosted seminars with internationally recognized professors and experts from the U.S. and Europe, providing members with unparalleled opportunities to learn about the latest developments in electrochemistry and solid state science. The chapter has actively promoted the fields on social media platforms like Twitter and through a website, launched in March 2023 to better circulate information and increase awareness. Activities including game and movie nights were organized for members and the chapter participated in the new ECS Mid-America Section launch reception.

As the 2023 ECS Outstanding Student Chapter, the ECS University of Notre Dame Student Chapter receives an additional USD $1,000 in funding; a recognition plaque; and acknowledgement in the Interface winter issue.

2023 ECS Chapters of Excellence

The ECS Texas Tech University Student Chapter, founded in 2020, and the ECS Indian Institute of Technology Madras Student Chapter, founded in 2022, are the 2023 Chapters of Excellence.

This year, these chapters maintained active memberships, hosted workshops, and promoted awareness of electrochemistry within their chapters as well as to school-age children. In recognition of these achievements and continuing commitment to ECS’ mission, these chapters receive a certificate of recognition and acknowledgement in the Interface winter issue.
