Tips & Tools for a Successful Meeting Experience

Plan

The best way to come to the meeting feeling prepared? Plan in advance! Check the meeting homepage regularly for new and updated events and information.

ECS App

Download the ECS app, by searching “ECS mobile” in your app store, to put the technical program and personal meeting scheduler on your mobile device. Browse, add, and sync sessions, events, and presentations to create your own custom itinerary! Connect with ECS all year and stay informed with the latest news in the world of electrochemistry and solid state science. The meeting scheduler can also be found on the meetings homepage.

Dress Code

The attire for the conference is business casual. Session rooms can get chilly so we highly recommend you dress in layers. Given the amount of ground you are sure to cover, we recommend comfortable walking shoes.

Dallas’s weather is warm in May with daily high temperatures from 80°F to 87°F, rarely falling below 72°F or exceeding 93°F. Check out the forecast to plan accordingly.

What to bring
  • Business Cards – with ample time to network you will want to have plenty of cards ready to distribute.
  • Day bag: between early sessions and evening poster receptions, meeting days are long. Bring a backpack or briefcase to carry any items you need with you as there will not be very many opportunities to go back to your hotel room throughout the day.
  • A reusable water bottle and coffee mug – go green!
  • A notebook & pen – it may sound obvious but you want to make sure you have these on hand at all times.
Who to ask

ECS Staff members can easily be picked out of a crowd. Look for our signature polos with the ECS logo or a nametag with a “Staff” ribbon. We are always happy to take a moment and answer your questions or listen to feedback. Have a specific question or concern you’d like to discuss in advance? Contact meetings@electrochem.org.

Publish Your Paper

ECS Transactions— select symposia will be publishing their proceedings in ECS Transactions. All authors of accepted meeting abstracts from these symposia are encouraged to submit a full-text paper. Be sure to check the call for papers for more information and your symposium’s requirements. Eligible authors will receive a notification email, including login credentials, when the ECST submission site opens. All proceedings will be published prior to the meeting for which they were submitted. For additional information, please visit the ECST website, or contact ecst@electrochem.org.

ECSarXiv— ECS recently launched ECSarXiv, a preprint service for the community working in electrochemistry and solid state science and technology. This free service is for preprints and other preliminary communications that are not yet published in a peer-reviewed outlet. ECSarXiv offers an excellent opportunity to draw more attention to your meeting presentation or poster, and provides a venue to share your work, no matter the format. Find out more or submit now!

Additionally, authors presenting papers at ECS meetings, and submitting to ECST and/or ECSarXiv, are also encouraged to submit to the Society’s technical journals.

ADA Accessibility

Special accommodations for those attendees living with a disability will be handled on an individual basis. Contact the ECS headquarters at, meetings@electrochem.org immediately if you will need assistance.

Permissions Granted to ECS

ECS reserves the right to electronically record any or all meeting-related events. By registering for and/or attending an ECS meeting you are granting ECS permission to use any recording or photography made of you at any meeting event or anywhere within the meeting venue.

Speaker Indemnification

The ideas and opinions expressed in the technical sessions, conferences, and any handout materials provided are those of the presenter. They are not those of ECS, nor can any endorsement by ECS be claimed.

Financial Assistance

Many ECS divisions offer travel grants to students, postdoctoral researchers, and young professionals to attend ECS biannual meetings. Applications are available online and need to be received by February 25, 2019. Additional financial assistance is very limited and generally governed by the symposium organizers. Individuals may inquire directly to the organizers of the symposium in which they are presenting their paper to see if funding is available. For general travel grant questions, please contact travelgrant@electrochem.org.

Photography and Recording

Photography and recording is not permitted in technical sessions.
By attending the ECS meeting, you agree that you will not record any technical session activity, without the express written consent from ECS. If you violate this policy you will be removed from the meeting and your registration will be revoked without the possibility of a refund.
