ECS meetings oral presentation guidelines
Oral presentations are a vital part of every ECS meeting, allowing researchers to highlight their findings and contribute to discussions shaping the future of electrochemical and solid state science. To maintain consistent quality and professionalism, ECS requires all oral presenters to adhere to the following guidelines, ensuring all presentations meet ECS standards.
- Your final ECS Abstract ID number is found in your Letter of Acceptance.
- All oral presentations MUST be in English.
- Presentations must be brought to the session rooms on USB flash drives.
- No need to bring personal laptops as laptop computers and LCD projectors are available in every session room for oral presentations.
- Send a written request to ECS HQ no later than three weeks before the meeting if special equipment is required. All special arrangements are made at your expense.
- There is no Speaker Ready Room.
- Arrive at the session room early and introduce yourself to the Session Chairs.
- No additional time is allotted for a question and answer session. If a Q&A is planned, prepare presentations accordingly, based on the length of time specified in your acceptance notification.
ECS meetings poster presentation guidelines
Presenting a poster at an ECS meeting is an excellent way to share research, connect with peers, and gain visibility within the global electrochemical science and technology community. To ensure consistency, professionalism, and meeting ECS standards, carefully review these poster preparation and display requirements.
Adhere to these guidelines when preparing posters:
- The paper title, poster number, names, and affiliations of all authors MUST be at the top of the display.
- Posters must fit within the dimensions of A0 print format (841 x 1189 mm/33.1 x 46.8 inches).
- Posters must be laid out vertically (portrait layout).
- All poster presentations MUST be in English.
- Display all information from left to right, starting at the top left corner.
- Recommended font size for the title is 2.5 cm to 5 cm/1 to 2 inches high.
- Minimize written text, using only when needed to emphasize data and/or to stimulate discussion.
- All illustrations, drawings, charts, pictures, graphs, figures, and captions should be large enough to be read from a distance of 1.5 m/5 ft.
- Commercial advertisements or publicity are NOT permitted in poster presentations. Authors violating this regulation are asked to remove their presentations immediately.
To display your poster, adhere to these guidelines:
- Mount posters only on the assigned day. Poster mounting times are detailed in the acceptance letter and Online Program Guide.
- You are responsible for setting up your display, being present during the entire scheduled poster session, and removing your display at the conclusion of the poster session.
- No posters may be displayed without author participation. NO EXCEPTIONS ARE GRANTED.
- Do not begin setting up posters until all poster mounting boards have been numbered; only hang posters on the appropriately numbered board.
- Remove posters promptly at the end of the session. Unclaimed posters are discarded.
- Pushpins and/or thumbtacks are supplied.
- You are responsible for the security of your display and all items of value. ECS does not assume any responsibility for lost, stolen, or broken articles.
- Smaller copies of posters (A4 or 8.5 x 11 inches sizes only) may be brought for attendees to take away. Bring a clear folder in which to store them; pin the folder onto the board with the display.
- Special requirements should be addressed to ECS HQ and Symposium Organizers prior to the meeting.
Publish your presentation
ECS encourages extending the impact of your work by publishing in one of the Society’s peer-reviewed journals.
- Journal of The Electrochemical Society (JES)
- ECS Journal of Solid State Science and Technology (JSS)
- ECS Advances (ECSA)
- ECS Sensors Plus (ECSSP)
Submitting a paper for publication ensures that research reaches a global audience and contributes to advancing electrochemical and solid state science. Publishing with ECS provides a permanent, citable record of presentations and supports the Society’s mission to disseminate high-quality, open science.
There is no submission deadline, although six months is considered sufficient time to revise an abstract to meet stricter journal standards. Journal submissions must be made using the JES, JSS, ECSA, or ECSSP online submission systems.
ECS journals offer open access publishing through ECS Author Choice Open Access, giving authors the ability to share their work freely with the global research community.
