Over 3,300 abstracts across 50 symposia from the digital PRiME 2020 meeting are now available in the ECS Digital Library. Video and presentation files from selected authors are also included. Now is the time to check out anything you may have missed during the meeting.

ECS Meeting Abstracts contains extended abstracts of technical papers presented at ECS biannual meetings, ECS joint meetings, and ECS-sponsored meetings. The ECS General Student Poster Session Awards were established in 1993 to acknowledge the excellence of students’ work. The winners’ posters display their understanding of research topics in fields of interest to the Society.

This year, 243 students submitted posters for the PRiME 2020 General Student Poster Session. Of them, three student posters stood out above the rest. The recipients of the PRiME 2020 Z01 General Student Poster Session’s best poster awards are:

Feasibility of LiNbO3 Surface Coating on High-Ni Layered Cathode Materials for Lithium Ion Batteries
Kim received BS in Advanced Materials Engineering for Information and Electronics from Kyung Hee University, Republic of Korea, in 2019. He is pursuing his MS under the guidance of Professor Min-Sik Park at the same university. Kim’s research focuses on improving the performance of cathode materials for lithium ion batteries.

Spread the News about PRiME 2020

Enjoy free, unlimited access!

ECS is reaching out to the community—our volunteer leaders, people registered to attend PRiME 2020, and people presenting during PRiME—to help spread the news that it’s free for attendees to register for the online meeting. Attendees can access all symposia and live events at no charge. However, registration for the event is required. The ECS Transactions (ECST) manuscript submission site opens to authors and editors on Monday, July 20, for Volume 98, PRiME 2020. The site closes to editors on Friday, August 28. Volume 98, PRiME 2020, is scheduled to publish no later than Friday, September 25, 2020.

ECST is the official conference proceedings publication of The Electrochemical Society and features full-text content of proceedings from ECS meetings and ECS-sponsored meetings. Please follow author and editor instructions.

It is difficult to focus on events in the near future while the world is concentrating on the daily challenges regaining stability. In recognition of this and the continuing disruption caused by the COVID-19 outbreak, the abstract submission deadline for PRiME 2020 has been extended to May 29, 2020.

The Electrochemical Society, the Electrochemical Society of Japan, and the Korean Electrochemical Society are actively monitoring the global situation while preparing for PRiME 2020. As we strive to balance health and safety with an eventual return to normality, we hope that this extension relieves pressure for submitters. (more…)

The Electrochemical Society, The Electrochemical Society of Japan, and The Korean Electrochemical Society are actively monitoring the worldwide coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak and working to prepare for any potential impact on the upcoming PRiME 2020 meeting in Honolulu, Hawaii, from October 4-9, 2020.

At present, we are proceeding as planned with abstract submissions and all other preparations for PRiME 2020. In order to provide authors with as much time as possible, we are formally extending the abstract submission for PRiME from April 17 to May 1, 2020. (more…)

Symposium I03: Frontiers of Chemical/Molecular Engineering in Electrochemical Energy Technologies: In Honor of Robert Savinell’s 70th Birthday

Symposium focus: In honor of Robert Savinell’s 70th birthday, after more than four decades of research in fuel cells and flow batteries, this symposium is organized to celebrate his achievements. The symposium highlights current and emerging ideas in electrocatalysis, electrolytes, and device design for fuel cells and flow batteries. Topics include molecular-level understanding of small-molecule electrocatalysis (including hydrogen, oxygen, and carbon- and nitrogen-containing molecules such as alcohols, ammonia, urea, carbon dioxide, and others), membranes and electrolytes including additives, nanoparticles, and deep eutectic chemistries, redox-active molecules, and new concepts in fuel cells and flow batteries, with contributions spanning different length scales from molecules to devices. We welcome contributions from both theory and experiment, especially on studies that are designed to bridge molecular-level understanding of electrochemistry to macroscopic electrochemical technologies. The objective is to provide an interdisciplinary discussion forum on the current state and future perspectives in fuel cells and flow batteries, and to celebrate the achievements of Robert Savinell to the field.
