Saket Bhargava

The ECS Industrial Electrochemistry and Electrochemical Engineering Division Student Achievement Award recognizes and rewards promising young engineers and scientists in fields pertaining to this division. This year’s recipient, Saket Bhargava, is a PhD student in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). His work with Paul Kenis’ research group focuses on using flow electrolyzers to develop system-level process intensification approaches and studying the effects of intensified process conditions on the activity, selectivity, and energy efficiency for CO2 electroreduction to value-added chemicals. His award talk is titled, “System-Level Approaches for Intensifying the CO2 Electrolysis Process.”

The IEEE Division Student Achievement Award was established in 1989. It includes a framed certificate and $1,000 (USD) prize. The annual nomination deadline is September 15. (more…)

Established in 2017, the award assists a deserving student in India pursue a career in disciplines related to electrochemistry and solid state science and technology. The award honors Sarukkai Krishnamachari “SKR” Rangarajan (1932 – 2008) for his dedication and contributions to electrochemical science and technology. (more…)

The ECS Corrosion Division is currently accepting nominations for the following two awards:

Corrosion Division Morris Cohen Graduate Student Award: established in 1991 to recognize and reward outstanding graduate research in the field of corrosion science and/or engineering. The award consists of a framed scroll and $1,000 prize. The award, for outstanding Masters or PhD work, is open to graduate students who have successfully completed all the requirements for their degrees as testified to by the student’s advisor, within a period of two years prior to the nomination submission deadline. Nominations are now being accepted for the 2020 ECS Georgia Section Outstanding Student Achievement Award for a student pursuing a PhD at a university in Georgia.

The ECS Georgia Section Outstanding Student Achievement Award was established in 2011 to recognize academic accomplishments in any area of science or engineering in which electrochemical and/or solid state science and technology is the central consideration.

To qualify for the award, the nominee must be a student pursuing a PhD at a university in Georgia; nominated by a university faculty member; and a member of ECS at the time of the nomination.
