Upcoming ECS Division and Section Award Nominations Deadlines

ECS divisions and sections recognize outstanding achievements in electrochemical and solid state science and technology through honors and awards. Exceptional service to the Society is also acknowledged.

Take note of the upcoming deadlines for the following awards and submit nominations as soon as possible!

ECS Section Awards

Pacific Northwest Section Electrochemistry Award
An independent scientist or engineer in Washington, Oregon or Idaho is recognized for excellence in electrochemistry and solid state science and technology research. The award consists of a framed certificate and $1,000 USD.
Deadline July 15, 2021

Georgia Section Student Award
This award acknowledges the academic accomplishments of a student pursuing a PhD at a university within the Georgia Section in any area of science or engineering in which electrochemical and/or solid state science and technology is the central consideration. The award consists of a $500 USD prize.
Deadline August 15, 2021

India Section Student Award
Established to assist a full or part-time graduate student (no more than 30 years old) in good standing at a university or college in India pursue a career in disciplines related to electrochemistry and solid state science and technology. The award includes a framed certificate, $500 USD, and a complimentary one-year ECS membership.

ECS Division Awards

DST DivisionDielectric Science & Technology Division Thomas D. Callinan Award
The award recognizes outstanding contributions to the field of dielectric science and technology and encourages excellence in dielectric investigations, the preparation of high-quality science and technology papers and patents, and publication in the Journal of The Electrochemical Society (JES). The award consists of a framed certificate and a $1,500 USD prize.
Deadline August 1, 2021

Electronics and Photonics Division Award
Authors who have made noteworthy scientific contributions and enhanced the scientific stature of the Society by the presentation of well-received papers in JES and at Society meetings are honored with this award. Recipients receive a framed certificate, $1,500 USD, and the choice of up to $1,000 of un-reimbursed expenses to facilitate travel to the designated meeting or ECS life membership.

Energy Technology Division Graduate Student Award sponsored by Bio-Logic
Promising young engineers and scientists in Energy Technology Technical Interest Areas are recognized by this award of $1,000 USD, a framed certificate, and more.

Energy Technology Division Research Award
The award encourages excellence in energy-related research and encourages publication in the Journal of The Electrochemical Society. It also recognizes outstanding and original contributions to the science and technology of energy-related research areas that include scientific and technological aspects of fossil fuels and alternative energy sources, energy management, and environmental consequences of energy utilization. The award prize consists of $2,000 USD and more. Deadline September 1, 2021

Energy Technology Division Supramaniam Srinivasan Young Investigator Award
The prize recognizes an outstanding young researcher in the field of energy technology. The winner receives a framed certificate; $1,000 USD; and complimentary meeting registration.

IEEE DivisionIndustrial Electrochemistry and Electrochemical Engineering Division H. H. Dow Memorial Student Achievement Award
This award focuses on promising young engineers and scientists in the field of electrochemical engineering and applied electrochemistry. It consists of a framed certificate and $1,000 USD for expenses associated with the recipient’s education or research project (i.e., tuition, books, equipment, or supplies).

IEEE DivisionIndustrial Electrochemistry and Electrochemical Engineering Division Student Achievement Award
Promising young engineers and scientists in the field of electrochemical engineering are recognized by this award which consists of a frame certificate and $1,000 USD.

Nanocarbons Division Richard E. Smalley Award
The award was established to encourage excellence in fullerenes, nanotubes, and carbon nanostructures research; and recognize, in a broad sense, those persons who have made outstanding contributions to the understanding and applications of fullerenes. The award consists of $1,000 USD, a framed certificate, and travel assistance to facilitate attending the meeting where the award is presented.

Nanocarbons Division SES Research Young Investigator Award
An outstanding young researcher in the field of fullerenes, carbon nanotubes, and nanostructures is rewarded with this award consisting of $500 USD and a framed certificate.
