Manuscripts are accepted for publication by ECS in its journals with the understanding that the works are unpublished and original, and that they have not been submitted elsewhere and will not be submitted elsewhere while under consideration by the ECS Editorial Board. Authors will be asked to complete a Transfer of Copyright form. All manuscripts must conform to the Instructions to Authors for the ECS journal to which they are submitted, available in PDF format.
Online Manuscript Submission via PXP The ECS online manuscript submission system for both ECS journals is called Peer X-Press (PXP); and it allows authors to upload manuscripts directly into a peer-review system that takes advantage of the internet and e-mail systems to streamline the review process, reducing the time necessary to obtain reviews by weeks or months in some cases. In addition, PXP allows authors to check the status of their manuscript by simply logging into the system. For more on PXP, please review the author instructions listed above for the appropriate journal, or go directly to the online submission site for either the Journal (JES) or Letters (ESL).
Manuscripts submitted to the ECS journals, as well as papers presented at ECS meetings, become the property of ECS and may not be published elsewhere in whole or in part without written permission of ECS. Statements and opinions given in articles and papers published in the ECS journals are those of the contributors, and ECS assumes no responsibility for them.
Authors presenting papers at ECS meetings are encouraged to submit their papers to the ECS journals, including those papers that will be published in an issue of ECS Transactions. Although there is no hard deadline for these submissions, in order to ensure timeliness of publication, it is expected that six months from the date of the symposium is sufficient time to revise a paper to meet the stricter standards of the peer-reviewed journals.
To help meet the publication costs, there is a page charge of $80.00 (USD) per printed page for technical papers published in the ECS journals. A 20% discount is given if, at the time of a paper's submission, at least one author is an ECS member or the representative of an ECS Corporate Member.
