ECS meetings bring together researchers with interests ranging from solution phase studies through semiconductor technologies. This dichotomy is often described in the terms “wet side” and “dry side” and is reflected in the 13 technical Divisions and Groups of the Society. Interactions across the Society are strengthened when researchers in different areas had a better appreciation of these diverse scientific interests. The “XYZ … For the Rest of Us” talks help to educate ECS members and meeting attendees about areas outside of their immediate domain and to promote discussion and cross-Society interactions. The talks have an operating title of “XYZ … for the Rest of Us,” where “XYZ” changes with each talk. Talks are held on the Sunday evening of the Society’s biannual meetings, spring and fall.
