The ECS Europe Section has elected a new Executive Committee and members at large to serve in 2021 and 2022. The new officers are Prof. Philippe Marcus, Chair; Prof. Roberto Paolesse, Vice Chair; Prof. Robert Lynch, Secretary; and Prof. Jan Macák, Treasurer. Voting, which was open to all members of the Europe section, closed on January 31.

Call for Nominations

Nominations are sought for an individual or a small group of individuals (no more than three) who have made an outstanding contribution to the science of semiconductor electrochemistry and photoelectrochemistry, including the underlying areas of physical and materials chemistry of significance to this field.

The ECS Europe Section Heinz Gerischer Award consists of a commemorative plaque and a prize of EUR 2,000. If needed, financial assistance is provided for non-reimbursed travel expenses incurred to receive the award (not to exceed EUR 1,000). (more…)

The Europe Section Heinz Gerischer Award was established in 2001 to recognize an individual or a small group of individuals (no more than 3) who have made an outstanding contribution to the science of semiconductor electrochemistry and photoelectrochemistry. The award consists of a scroll and a 2,000 EUR prize. The next award will be presented at the 232nd ECS Meeting in National Harbor, MD in October 2017. Europe Section Volta Award

Volta_frontThe Europe Section has established the Alessandro Volta Medal, an award to recognize outstanding contributions in electrochemistry and solid-state chemistry and technology in Europe.

The award consists of a silver medal and a check for $2,000. The recipient will be required to attend a Europe Section sponsored meeting, at which the award will be presented, and deliver a lecture on a subject related to the contribution for which the award has been granted. The nominations for 2016 are now open. The nomination form can be downloaded here. The completed nomination (including supporting letters) should be submitted to the ECS Awards website.

Please keep in mind that if you are making a nomination, you will also need to obtain and submit the supporting letters. Allow extra time to do so before the deadline.
