Congratulations to Julie Fornaciari, winner of the ECS San Francisco Section 2022 Daniel Cubicciotti Student Award, and to Rachel Zhuojun Huang and Matthew Liu who received Honorable Mentions.

The Daniel Cubicciotti Student Award recognizes a deserving undergraduate student from a college or university in Northern California pursuing a career in the physical sciences. First prize recipients receive an etched metal plaque and $2,000 prize. The section also recognizes up to two students with honorable mentions. They receive framed certificates and $500 prizes.

October 13-14 Workshop Organized by Prof. Yan Yao 

Event 

The in-person fifth Organic Battery Days (OBD) 2022 Workshop continues a series of OBD events that started in Uppsala, Sweden, in 2017. This is the first time the OBD Workshop takes place in the United States! Building on the success of previous meetings, this year’s in-person event aims to strengthen communication and cooperation among experts from academic organizations, research institutes, and manufacturing companies, as well as to exchange knowledge and experience on the most recent developments in the field of organic batteries. Centennial Celebration Logo Design

This year, ELDP marks 100 years since its founding with a Centennial Celebration. The Early Career Forum invites all ELDP division members to submit designs for a “100 years of the Electrodeposition Division Logo.” The division’s Executive Committee will review submissions and choose the best idea. The logo will feature prominently in all ELDP symposia at the 242nd ECS Meeting in Atlanta, GA, from October 9-13, 2022.

The Electrochemical Society (ECS) named 15 new members to the 2022 Class of ECS Fellows. The designation “Fellow of The Electrochemical Society” was established in 1989 for advanced individual technological contributions to the fields of electrochemistry and solid state science and technology, and for service to the Society. Fellows are recognized for scientific achievements, leadership, and active participation in the affairs of ECS. ECS seeks to fill two Technical Editor positions in the Sensors Technical Interest Area (TIA). The first serves the wide range of sensors topics for ECS Sensors Plus. The second covers sensors topics for the Journal of The Electrochemical Society and ECS Journal of Solid State Science and Technology.

Nominees for these positions must possess and maintain scientific knowledge of the scope of the sensors topical interest area. Technical Editors are appointed for a minimum initial two-year term, renewable for additional terms, up to a maximum of 12 total years of service in this role. (more…)

The ECS Detroit Section held its 2022 Officer Election from May 13-June 3, 2022. Thank you to all ECS members who supported their regional community by voting, and to the new officers for serving their section.

The new officers’ terms of office are for two years or until their successors have been qualified. Their terms begin at 0800h ET on January 1 of the calendar year following the election.
