Endowed by the Dow Chemical Company Foundation to recognize significant advances in industrial electrochemistry, the IEEE Division New Electrochemical Technology (NET) Award is the only award within the ECS Honors & Awards Program presented to an organization. Dr. Ardemis A. Boghossian

The Roger Taylor Award is a travel grant for students and early career researchers who have achieved up to ten years of postdoctoral experience to attend the 229th meeting of The Electrochemical Society and submit to Symposium B: Carbon Nanostructures and Devices. The Roger Taylor Award is generously funded by the Taylor family as an endowment to the British Carbon Group.

The winner of the 2016 Roger Taylor award is Dr. Ardemis A. Boghossian who is currently an Assistant Professor at the Institute of Chemical Sciences and Engineering (ISIC) of the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL). Dr. Boghossian received her BSE in Chemical Engineering at the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor. She holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and served as a Postdoc in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the California Institute of Technology.

Currently, Dr. Boghossian implements an interdisciplinary approach to addressing fundamental challenges and developing novel technologies that exploit the synergy between nanotechnology and synthetic biology. The award consists of a certificate and a £750 prize. Join us at the 229th ECS biannual meeting in San Diego where she will deliver Wrapped Up in Nanotubes: Dynamics of Wrapped Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes (SWCNTs) within the B Symposia: Carbon Nanostructures and Devices.

Michael Shur will be awarded the 2016 ECS Electronics and Photonics Division Award at the 229th ECS Meeting in San Diego, CA, May 29-June 2, 2016.

Michael Shur has received degrees from St. Petersburg Electrochemical University and the A. F. Ioffe Institute. Currently, he is the Patricia W. and C. Roberts Professor of Solid State Electronics and the Director of the Broadband Center at the Rensselar Polytechnic Institute. Additionally, Shur is the co-founder and vice president of SET, Inc.

Shur is an ECS Fellow and has been named a Fellow of many other scientific societies, including IEEE, OSA, SPIE, IET, APS, WIF, MRS, and AAAS.

His many honors and recognitions include the Tibbetts Award for technology commercialization, IEEE Donald Fink Award, IEEE Kirchmayer Award, Gold Medal of Russian Education Ministry, RPI Research Award, and many more. Shur is also a foreign member of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences.

LDM Outstanding Achievement Award was established in 2002 (the Centennial Year of The Electrochemical Society) to encourage excellence in luminescence and display materials research and outstanding technical contributions to the field of luminescence and display materials science. The award consists of a scroll and a $1,000 prize. The recipient is required to attend the designated Society meeting to receive the award and give a lecture to the LDM Division.

The recipient is required to attend the Society meeting at which the award is given and present a lecture on topics for which the award is made and may receive (if required) some financial assistance to facilitate attendance.

The recipient is required to attend the designated Society meeting to receive the award and to give a lecture to the HTM Division. The recipient is eligible for up to $1,000 toward travel expenses to facilitate attendance.
