Areas of interest include design and growth of conducting, semiconducting, and insulating carbon nanostructures including nanocarbons, nanotubes, graphene, and fullerenes. Specific topics include theoretical and experimental studies on nanotubes, graphene, and fullerenes for use in energy, catalytic, and sensor applications; electronic, photonic, electrochemical, and mechanical devices; functional materials, and chemical and physical functionalization of carbon nanostructures; supramolecular assemblies; biomedical devices; and environmental remediation. 2024 ECS Outstanding Student Chapter

 

ECS Technische Universität München Student Chapter is the 2024 Outstanding Student Chapter. Two student chapters were also named 2024 Chapters of Excellence: ECS University of Michigan Student Chapter and ECS Universität Münster Student Chapter.

The Society established the Outstanding Student Chapter Award in 2012 to recognize distinguished ECS Student Chapters that demonstrate active participation in the Society’s technical activities; establish community and outreach activities in the areas of electrochemical and solid state science and engineering education; and create and maintain a robust membership base.

Submissions now accepted from Europe

The Electrochemical Society (ECS), in collaboration with the Toyota Research Institute of North America (TRINA), a division of Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America, Inc. (TEMA), is excited to announce the continued growth of the prestigious ECS Toyota Young Investigator Fellowship and opening of 2025-2026 award year submissions. For the first time, along with candidates from Canada, Mexico, and the United States, the fellowship will accept applications from Europe.

The fellowship program is a partnership between The Electrochemical Society and the Toyota Research Institute of North America (TRINA), a Toyota Motor North America (Toyota) R&D division that explores future technology. Through this program, ECS and Toyota promote innovative and unconventional green energy technologies born from electrochemical research and encourage young professionals and scholars to pursue battery and fuel cell research.
