Clearing the Cache on your Internet Browser

We have had several comments recently regarding content that appears “outdated” on the ECS website. This may be a result of your browser caching older versions of our web pages. You may need to update your internet browser to view the most recent ECS pages on the site.

All internet browsers cache the web pages that you visit and the cookies coming from those pages. While designed to speed up web browsing, if left unchecked the growing folders can sometimes slow your browser to a crawl or cause other unexpected behavior. Clearing your cache can help with these issues and also forces your browser to retrieve the newest copy available from the website, something that should happen automatically but oftentimes does not. In general, the “less is more” principal works well here - keep your browser cache small and clear it often.

Instructions on How to Clear Your Cache or Browsing History:

Internet Explorer

  1. Place your mouse on the web page, right-click, and then click “Refresh”
  2. Click “Tools” in the menu bar
  3. Click “Internet Options”
  4. Under the section labeled “Browsing History”, click “Delete”
  5. Only check the box “Temporary Internet files and website files” and uncheck the box “Preserve Favorites website data”
  6. Click “Delete”
  7. Click “OK”

Google Chrome

  1. Place your mouse on the web page, right-click, and then click “Reload”
  2. Click the Chrome menu next to the browser toolbar located in the top right
  3. Select “Tools”
  4. Select “Clear Browsing Data”
  5. Click the drop-down menu for the option “Obliterate the following items from:” and select “the beginning of time”
  6. Place a check in all the available boxes
  7. Click “Clear browsing data”

Mozilla Firefox

  1. Place your mouse on the web page, right-click, and then click “Reload”
  2. Click the “Firefox” button at the top / left of the window
  3. Click “Options”
  4. Click “Advanced”
  5. Click the “Network” tab
